Electrical engineering companies deal with the branch of electrical science which primarily involves the studies of electricity and equipment for power generation and distribution, control of the machine. The electrical industry consists of the production of transformers, motors, generators, switch gears, home appliances, transmission lines, etc.

The Indian Electrical Industry is one of the leading electrical markets in the world, involved in the manufacturing and development of electrical equipment. Electrical companies are either privately held or public limited companies, which jointly caters the nation’s overall progress.

Usually, these companies often generate the job falling into three different nature, such as field job, research, and management. It also involves in disciplines of power, signal processing, microelectronics, instrumentation, electronics, control, telecommunications, computers, etc.

1) BHEL [Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited




Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is the leading electrical company in India, which came into existence in the year 1964. Headquartered in New Delhi, the company is involved in the designing, manufacturing and installing of products related to power and transmission sector.

BHEL is a Maharatna Company with operations in more than 70 countries in the world. Some of its products are Boilers, Transformers, Gas Turbines, Fuel Cells, and Valves.

The company has established the capability to deliver 20,000 MW p.a. of power equipment to address the growing demand for power generation equipment.

BHEL has retained its market leadership position during 2015–16 with 74% market share in the Power Sector. An improved focus on project execution enabled BHEL record its highest ever commissioning/synchronization of 15059 MW of power plants in domestic and international markets in 2015–16, marking a 59% increase over 2014–15. With the all-time high commissioning of 15000 MW in a single year FY2015-16, BHEL has exceeded 170 GW installed base of power generating equipments.

It also has been exporting its power and industry segment products and services for over 40 years. BHEL's global references are spread across over 76 countries across all the six continents of the world. The cumulative overseas installed capacity of BHEL manufactured power plants exceeds 9,000 MW across 21 countries including Malaysia, Oman, Iraq, UAE, Bhutan, Egypt, And New Zealand. Their physical exports range from turnkey projects to after sales services.

During the year 2012–13, the company invested about ₹1,252 Crore on R&D efforts, which corresponds to nearly 2.50% of the turnover of the company, focusing on new product and system developments and improvements in existing products. The IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) capital of BHEL grew by 21.5% in the year, taking the total to 2170.


2) Havells India Ltd.





The company is engaged in the manufacturing of electrical equipment, viz. motors, switchgear, capacitors, motors, etc. The company stands fourth in the list of Top 10 Electrical Companies in India.

Havells India Limited is a swiftly growing electrical company in India, which came into existence in the year 1958. Headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

In 2007, Havells' creation of a capacitor manufacturing plant in NoidaUttar Pradesh with the capacity of 6,00,000 KVAr per month was completed. Later it acquired the lighting business of a Frankfurt based company Sylvania, a global leader in the lighting business and now for the first time in its history, the company's turnover exceeded US$1 billion. By 2007, Havell's were well known for its electrical switches, energy meters and miniature circuit breakers (MCBs). In March 2007, Havells acquired SLI Sylvania of Netherlands for $300 million, making it the fourth largest lighting business in the world, worth over a billion USD. This was, at that time, the biggest overseas takeover by an Indian electrical equipment manufacturer. This takeover helped to give the Havells brand access to over 20,000 dealers across Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The combined Havells-Sylvania generated over a $1 billion in revenue with more than 60% coming from international sales.


3) Siemens Ltd.




A German Multinational Corporation, Siemens is the next electrical company on this list, which was established in the year 1847. Siemens made its debut in India in the year 1922.

Some of the business domains of this company are Power, Energy Management, Mobility and Building Technologies. The company operates in more than 20 manufacturing plants in India and some of its top-selling products are Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Compressors, Generators, and Electrical Systems.

Siemens India manufactures steam turbines, turbo compressors, high-voltage switchgear (circuit breakers, disconnectors and gas-insulated switchgear), switchboards, remote monitoring systems (RMS), fire detectors and suppression systems, motors and generators, relays and Smart Grid systems, transformers, and advanced medical imaging equipment.
